What We Offer Under the Retainer Program

We combine modern technology with hands-on training to implement a proactive maintenance strategy. Drivers and mechanics learn what DOT inspectors look for and how to properly maintain records to remain fully compliant.

Benefits

Level 1 and 2 Inspections

We roll our sleeves up and inspect selected vehicles in your fleet.  We try to find patterns in the violation discovered i.e, brakes, hoses, etc., so we can focus on those areas for greater impact to your maintenance scores.

We set up these inspections so drivers and mechanics can watch us as we perform a certified CVSA Level one or two inspection and ask questions on areas they don’t understand.  We then have the drivers and mechanics do their own CVSA inspection as we critique and train during observation.

Benefits

Comprehensive Audits

We audit every aspect of your compliance program—driver files, logs, maintenance records, and more—on a regular schedule to catch problems before they cost you.

Benefits

Driver Qualification Management

We create and maintain driver qualification files that meet FMCSA standards—ensuring everything is accurate, up-to-date, and audit-ready.

Benefits

Our Services

Ongoing Training

Regular training sessions are provided for drivers, mechanics, and management to ensure compliance. Topics include hours of service, critical violations, maintenance duties, load securement, pre-trip inspections, roadside procedures, drug and alcohol protocols, driver safety, accident prevention, and driver qualifications. Admin staff receive training on records and procedures, while hazmat personnel are trained in general awareness, advanced driver classes, and cargo handling for bulk and non-bulk materials.

Benefits

Accident Reduction

We believe our driver training stands out because it’s grounded in real-world experience and a deep understanding of what causes CMV crashes. Often, it’s the simple things—like keeping mirrors and glass clean—that make a big difference. Our training incorporates real accidents we’ve encountered throughout our careers to help drivers learn from real-life scenarios. While those over-the-top commercials targeting trucking companies may seem like cartoons, the lawyers behind them are very real—and aggressive. That’s why we take accident prevention seriously.

Benefits

One of the first things we review when a trucking company reaches out is their safety rating. Once we decide to move forward, improving that rating becomes a top priority. In fact, it’s one of the areas where we receive the most praise. While the upgrade itself is important, it’s the combination of all our efforts—training, compliance, and documentation—that allows us to craft a solid corrective action plan and formally request a rating change. If your safety rating is currently Conditional or Unsatisfactory, it might be time to give us a call—we’ve helped companies significantly lower their insurance premiums by turning those ratings around.

Benefits

When you partner with Lone Star DOT, we’ll get your company ready for FMCSA audits. If an audit is already looming, there’s only so much we can do, but for companies that give us time to prepare, we can significantly reduce violations and uncover potential issues before auditors or attorneys do. Taking on an audit alone is a big risk—we strongly recommend letting experienced professionals handle it.

Benefits

Does your Hazardous Materials (HM) program need a professional review? HM violations often carry the highest fines in the trucking industry. At Lone Star DOT, we perform thorough audits of your HM program—reviewing shipping papers, placards, packaging, labels, compatibility, emergency response guides (and much more) to ensure everything is correct and compliant. We also verify that your employees have the proper HM training required by both PHMSA and FMCSA. HM regulations can be complex and confusing, but with our career-long experience, we make sure nothing gets overlooked.

Benefits

Safety Compliance Tracker

We have created our own web based application that keeps up with your company’s drivers, maintenance files, training requirements, expired CDLs, medical cards, medical waivers, clearing house queries, MVR annual updates, HM cargo tank testing, US DOT HM registration, General awareness testing, preventive maintenance intervals such as oil changes, etc.
